This page is under construction

Signal in Space Navigation Overview

"Signal in space" refers to the navigation of an aircraft using an electronic signal transmitted from an external source and used by instruments aboard the aircraft to help ascertain the aircraft's location. Signal in space NAVAIDS include but are not limited to VOR, VORTAC, DME, TACAN, ILS components, MLS components, and GPS. The opposite of signal in space navigation is inertial navigation, where an aircraft navigates without reference to any external electronic source.
